Why did our founders talk so much about Liberty? “To them it was a sacred trust, a precious possession, a privilege to be stewarded, and a right they would be responsible to give an answer for. Liberty meant everything to them. It was something worth fighting for…”
What is the difference between Liberty and Freedom? Freedom can be taken away by others. It is called majority rule, and with it people with political power can vote to take away your freedom. Whereas Liberty was an endowed right from our Creator as Thomas Jefferson described in the Declaration of Independence.
As God fearing men they knew that our liberty comes from Christ! When Christ is the center of our lives we know that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. He is the one who grants us freedom and life and blessings forever more for those who believe in Him! America’s Founders understood this and demanded liberty as opposed to simple freedom under a government. That is why we are a republic versus a democracy.
A few quotes presented below remind us why we need to take a stand to save our republic:
