POLITICAL STORM
When will this crazy political storm end? I have asked myself that question over and over. Psalm 94:3 states “How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?” It seems that evil is winning and those of us that have been praying, taking action, and remaining faithful to the Lord’s promises continue to be bashed and ridiculed by those whose eyes and heart are still closed to the fact that this battle is between good and evil.
In 2 Timothy 1:7 Paul is encouraging Timothy, because he was facing much criticism and persecution. Timothy was feeling overwhelmed and insecure about his having so much responsibility in the church at such a young age, while constantly dealing with attacks.
Below are several translations of 2 Timothy 1:7 and you will read that the words fear or timidity are used interchangeably as well as the words sound mind, self-control, or self-discipline. That’s where is it fun to look words up in a concordance to find the original Hebrew or Greek words and definitions to really make Bible Scripture come to life with clarity in meaning.
I encourage you to spend time in the Bible daily. Seek out the Lord’s promises to his faithful children. Just taking a few minutes each day will strengthen your resolve, add to your courage, and help you remain bold in your faith and belief in God’s promises that He will help save this nation.
Psalm 94:3-4 (NLT)
3 How long, O LORD? How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?
4 How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?
I Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
(ESV)
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
(KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
